Startin the week off with a double post to help everyone get through the week! Pedro mentioned Fauna back on the Echtra post so I figured I'd upload an album (song) to put you in the know. This album is an hour, and yes it is one song, so I didn't screw up converting the file. Pretty much similar to Echtra, other than the vocals, which are great clean, but are completely natural, so when the harsh vocals kick in it reminds me of Silencer. Other than that a great album to relax to, especially after werkin all day!

Second full-length album from these guys. Older material reminds me more of a hi-fi Xasthur, but this album really attempts to bring melancholy into a better place, by actually having melodies and a large atmosphere crating a truly unique setting for songs. With Austere split up, this band seems to be one of the better black metal bands from Australia (aside from swarth, abyssic hate, nazxul, reverend kriss hades, etc. :P) Really great album for fans of Austere, FEN, Agalloch, Drudkh, etc. Remember: love the album? support the band! Buy it!

First full-length release from German black metallers Heretoir. For people into Alcest and Agalloch. Shows alot of promise, and hopefully the next record will really improve on the elements presented in this one.

This place seems really dead, maybe you guys hate what I'm postin :P Till the rest of the team comes back I guess your stuck with what I got. Heres something a little bit different from my usual postings. Echtra is a band from Oregon, USA and share many similarities to bands like Wolves in the Throne room, Earth, and Om. Full of Trance like passages that will change direction quickly, from drone to a raw black metal sound, to something a bit more hypnotic. A great album to just loose your thoughts in. This is the newest offering by them so if you like it try out the earlier werks!

Withered hail from Atlanta, Georgia, home of a great resurgence of metal. They play a mix of black/death with some sludge put ontop. There are a few times I found myself thinking while listening to this album (such as track 2 - Reside in the Void) that there was a distinct Mastodon progression. But dont let that throw you off, This band is full of unique progressions and soundscapes.

And I am back. Good vacation, much needed. Seems you guys love the mystery downloads, especially the weird ones! I'll get back to doin those in a bit, but first up is Fen with thier 2011 release Epoch. Keeping with the style established on The Malediction Fields, but at the same time expanding their horizons, the British band continues to impress. This album throws blues and jazz tones on top of the atmospheric black metal sound to create something unique in a genre flooded with sounds. For fans of Agalloch, Drudkh, and Altar of Plagues. We ain't posted this yet have we?! I can't remember.
Altar of Plagues are basically an Black Metal band from Ireland who seem to do a good job of raising notches, they make black metal how it should be. Atmosphering and Soul Purging, this is the best extreme metal album of 2011 for me, and you may very well agree!

Negură Bunget is one of those rare bands that mix atmospheric black metal with folk and pagan ideas that come out ahead of all the just putting out generic album after generic album fill with the same garbage. Tired of Satan worship? Tired of nihilism? This band will put you in a great direction. I've always compared these guys to Drudk or Allagoch, but ill leave that up to you guys.
Following a disagreement within the band, Negru (drummer) reformed the band with entirely new members, who have produced the newest album
Vîrstele Pămîntului. Also included is
Măiestrit, a reworking of
Măiastru Sfetnic, done by the original band before the break-up

Twilight is a super group of (mainly black) metal musicians. Line-up includes Blake Judd, N. Imperial, Wrest, Aaron Turner, Stavros Giannopolous, and Sanford Parker. Who cares about names though? The music is phenomenal and even if such heavyweights weren't in the picture, this album definitely can make a name for itself. You don't get bored waiting for some random atmospheric piece taking too long. Your not wincing at the vocal selection. This is great american black metal brought to you by Southern Lord! Just have the newest release on electronic media.

Leviathan is a one man project of Jeff Whitehead also known as Wrest, who hails from California. Combining traditional elements of black metal along with DSBM, this band can have you headbanging to some of the gloomiest sounds around. There is a happy medium in terms of production, so even the more discerning listener may appreciate this blackened mix. Wrest is traditionally a drummer, but tat doesn't mean that the atmospheric section, or the other instruments suffer at his specialization. In fact, that means that there are no PROGRAMMED DRUMS! Currently Wrest is in prison for alleged sexual assault putting Twilight, Lurker of Chalice and Leviathan projects on hold. EDIT: bailed out. Just the first two releases, I lost the second two last year :(

Now here is a band I've been loving for a while now. Lifelover is a band somewhere between DSBM and pop-metal. At first I couldn't click into the band, but now I can't get enough. I can't understand swedish at all, but the emotion conveyed through the vocalists voices paint a picture of bleak hope and misery. Again, melancholy creates a breeding ground for extreme metal \m/

AMBIANCE. That's what
Njiqahdda is all about. Browsing through a few choice metal sites, this band popped up a few times so I decided to try em out. Black metal ambient art. Tired of Xasthur and related clones? Try this out then, its mellower and without that DAMN SNARE, or badly programmed drums. Weird weird stuff but its worth a listen to anyone into more soundscapes or anything of that nature. Found a good interview on these guys, so i figured id post it for all your reading wants. :3

One of the most anticipated albums of the year, for me, the number 1. This band NEVER fail to deliver, the mighty Agalloch. With something i can only use the word 'epic' to describe, and i ain't talking world of warcraft or internet troll EPICLULZZ, i'm talking mountains, lord of the rings, canyons...that kind of epic. Get it quick, whilst you can! It'll be down soon!

.neon, i'll say it right now, is already a contender for album of the year, definately gonna get a top 5 spot, my last album post for today.
.neon is the second full-length album by German post-black band Lantlôs.
All i can really say, is this album is one of the darkest and most contemplative of the year, i recommend it 1,000 times. Get this album!!
