Bloodiest - Descent

Posted by admin on Sunday, July 17, 2011

Bloodiest craft epic tracks that flow gracefully and methodically from crushing walls of sound to moments of fragility. Influenced both by the sounds of 90s Chicago underground rock scene as well as heavy music titans like Neurosis and Swans, Bloodiest's debut album ‘Descent’ sounds vast, symphonic and ultimately heavy.

Echtra - Paragate

Posted by admin on Saturday, June 18, 2011

This place seems really dead, maybe you guys hate what I'm postin :P Till the rest of the team comes back I guess your stuck with what I got. Heres something a little bit different from my usual postings. Echtra is a band from Oregon, USA and share many similarities to bands like Wolves in the Throne room, Earth, and Om. Full of Trance like passages that will change direction quickly, from drone to a raw black metal sound, to something a bit more hypnotic. A great album to just loose your thoughts in. This is the newest offering by them so if you like it try out the earlier werks!

We're Only In It For The Spirit by Uton

Posted by admin on Tuesday, March 15, 2011

We're Only In It For The Spirit is a drone/ambient music album, and it's disturbing as fuck. That pretty comprises what needs to be said about this album; from the low, dissonant rhythms dancing over a big, long treble drone. It has got the right amount of melody to keep stuff interesting and avoid falling into Sunn O)))-isms, adding some chants for a good measure of trippy-ness, yet still being inviting and making sure that you never get enough of it. This album makes me feel sick and uncomfortable, and I, honestly, love it; feels like playing Silent Hill 1 on the PS1 all over again. With that said, if you are still reading this review, then you probably want to get this album, so don't get your panties in a bunch and do it. After that, share with me how you felt while listening to it in the correct moment.

The Destroyers Of All by Ulcerate

Posted by admin on Tuesday, March 1, 2011

The Destroyers Of All is the third full-lenght album by the New Zealand band known as Ulcerate. It was released in 2011 (the song files say 2010, so fix that if you are nit-picky about having everything in your music collection in perfect order! You've been warned!).

I have no idea of how to define this album's sound. It is Death Metal, definitely. Or at least the vocals are... Then there are drums, which are bombastic and technical as fuck, but in a good way, using jazz-y fills, blast beats, great technical precision and just all around great. The guitar on the other hand is pretty much atmospheric music; it has got no leads, no recognizable solos, just a lot of atmosphere, dissonant chords, and technical noise, which, to be honest, works perfectly, giving attention to the other instruments while still providing something interesting to the band's ultra-unique sound nad giving the band a sound that will make it interesting for fans of Drone music or the like. Really, this is just a really brutal and trippy album, and since I know for fact that many of the readers here enjoy trippy music AND brutal music, I am sure that this will be greatly appreciate it, so just download and see if you like it, since I certainly do!

Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light I

Posted by admin on Friday, January 28, 2011

Earth is an American musical group based in Seattle, Washington, formed in 1989 and led by guitarist Dylan Carlson. Earth's music is mostly instrumental, and can be divided into two distinct stages. Their early work grew out of the Seattle-area grunge scene and is recognized as pioneering the genre of drone doom — an experimental offshoot of doom metal, characterized by droning, minimalist, lengthy, and repetitive structures. Earth's early albums were often recorded as a duo (Carlson and a bass guitarist), and could be seen as a variation of the experimental doom-influenced metal of The Melvins. Following a hiatus due to Carlson's personal problems, Earth reappeared with a markedly different sound. Their music was still slow-paced and lengthy, but now with a drummer and featuring strong elements of country music and jazz.

Sea of Bones Discography

Posted by admin on Thursday, September 9, 2010

“The sludge of the Melvins, the chaotic feedback of Floor, and epic-length songs that rise and fall in cascades of morose and furious angst —- capped off with brutal, evil vocals. Call it doom metal, call it stoner rock, call it whatever you want: New Haven, Connecticut’s Sea of Bones have raised the bar for any band that describes themselves as “heavy”.

Buried at Sea Discography

Chicago’s Buried at Sea may not have released a lot of records. But there is something to be said for the old adage “quality over quantity”.
