Entity

"American death tyrants Origin are here with their eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2008's beast of an album Antithesis. New vocalist Jason Keyser has joined the ranks, but stylistically the band have not deviated from their previous musical path. Entity is another unrelenting blunt-force trauma to the ears from start to finish, with all the technical and pulverising traits we have learnt to associate with the band."

Abysmal Dawn Discography

The Los Angeles, California death metal band Abysmal Dawn thundered onto the scene with their 2006 debut From Ashes. They had the honor of opening for Emperor when they played the U.S. and have done several other tours. The band is set to raise their profile even higher by signing to Relapse Records for their second effort.

Programmed To Consume finds Abysmal Dawn expanding and perfecting their sound. The crushing death metal is there, with pummeling blast beats and shredding guitars. They also infuse elements of thrash and black metal that increase the extremity and diversity of the music. The songs range from lighting fast traditional death metal to mid tempo tracks with a lot of groove and melody. There's even some acoustic guitars and a song that's slower and doomy.

Charles Elliot is the band's vocalist, and he shows a wider range on this album as well. His death metal growls are sufficiently angry and brutal, and he also adds some menacing high pitched black metal scream and some evil whispered/spoken word vocals. Great musicianship, a lot of variety and excellent songwriting make Programmed To Consume a top notch death metal CD.

The Destroyers Of All by Ulcerate

The Destroyers Of All is the third full-lenght album by the New Zealand band known as Ulcerate. It was released in 2011 (the song files say 2010, so fix that if you are nit-picky about having everything in your music collection in perfect order! You've been warned!).

I have no idea of how to define this album's sound. It is Death Metal, definitely. Or at least the vocals are... Then there are drums, which are bombastic and technical as fuck, but in a good way, using jazz-y fills, blast beats, great technical precision and just all around great. The guitar on the other hand is pretty much atmospheric music; it has got no leads, no recognizable solos, just a lot of atmosphere, dissonant chords, and technical noise, which, to be honest, works perfectly, giving attention to the other instruments while still providing something interesting to the band's ultra-unique sound nad giving the band a sound that will make it interesting for fans of Drone music or the like. Really, this is just a really brutal and trippy album, and since I know for fact that many of the readers here enjoy trippy music AND brutal music, I am sure that this will be greatly appreciate it, so just download and see if you like it, since I certainly do!

Unrequited and Unscathed - Terrorhorse

This is Terrorhorse's first album, I woke up yesterday morning to find it in my mailbox, so I was quite pleased. They're more of a local band in my province so there's not much information about them, other than they reside in London, Ontario. Their music is more technical metal and some songs have progressive traits, all-in-all they're a good Canadian Metal band. Look on the blog for their EP "This Ain't No Goddamn Mirage" which I posted months ago.

Slice The Cake

Slice The Cake formed in early 2009 by guitarist/producer Jonas Johansson (Sweden) and vocalist Gareth Edwards (England). The lineup was completed in late 2009 with the addition of bassist and composer, Jack Richardson (Australia). The band began work on writing a full release, taking influences from death metal and hardcore while mixing in orchestral elements, as well as a more technical and melodic approach to song writing. With song writing taking place in three different countries before being recording by each of the members, their debut EP, "Cleansed" (2010), shows a group of musicians intent on making something that will stand out from the crowd.

Apparatus Technical Death Compilation

The Apparatus has put together 21 track, 2 disc free download compilation. What's the catch? None of the bands are signed. Not even independent labels have caught on. This is the cream of the global crop; underground Tech Metal. It's hard to bring all these micro tech metal scenes together. This compilation is our biggest attempt. So here you go. Download it. Burn it. Blow up your car stereo with it. Do what you do.
