Animal by Animosity

Posted by admin on Wednesday, August 17, 2011

It's fun, it's technical, it's grindy, it's thrash, it's death, it's great. If you enjoy listening to modern grindcore and Death Metal then you will love this album. Otherwise, you should still download it and give it a few runs, since odds are you will be surprised.

Abysmal Dawn Discography

Posted by admin on Thursday, April 21, 2011

The Los Angeles, California death metal band Abysmal Dawn thundered onto the scene with their 2006 debut From Ashes. They had the honor of opening for Emperor when they played the U.S. and have done several other tours. The band is set to raise their profile even higher by signing to Relapse Records for their second effort.

Programmed To Consume finds Abysmal Dawn expanding and perfecting their sound. The crushing death metal is there, with pummeling blast beats and shredding guitars. They also infuse elements of thrash and black metal that increase the extremity and diversity of the music. The songs range from lighting fast traditional death metal to mid tempo tracks with a lot of groove and melody. There's even some acoustic guitars and a song that's slower and doomy.

Charles Elliot is the band's vocalist, and he shows a wider range on this album as well. His death metal growls are sufficiently angry and brutal, and he also adds some menacing high pitched black metal scream and some evil whispered/spoken word vocals. Great musicianship, a lot of variety and excellent songwriting make Programmed To Consume a top notch death metal CD.

Summer Slaughter Tour: 2007

Posted by admin

This Summer Slaughter DVD takes place at The Opera House in Toronto, Ontario. One of my favourite metal venues. It's an old Opera House that has been taken over by the metal scene, and it's just a fucking sick place to be. I'm sure Tim's gonna agree with me on this one!

Strings of Ares

Posted by admin on Thursday, January 27, 2011

Strings of Ares a three piece technical death metal act from Oshawa, Ontario. Debut album Temple to Mars is a gateway to the Gods, the cosmos and beyond.
Lyrically, it is a dedication to the ancient Roman god of war, Mars. These songs are inspired by the history and myths of ancient Rome and Greece; empires that were bound by their universal worship of the earth, the sky, the stars, the planets, and war.

Portal Discography

Posted by admin on Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Portal is an Australian extreme metal band notorious for its unorthodox fusion of death metal with black metal. The band's hybrid musical style is characterised by heavily distorted guitar riffs, down-tuned rhythms, and vocals ranging from "menacing, echoing" sound effects to guttural grunts. Describing the band's style, Decibel magazine said: "If Morbid Angel and Gorguts had birthed a German Expressionist child, that unholy creature would be Portal." The band members keep their identities obscured and instead use stage names, The Curator (vocals), Horror Illogium (lead guitar), Aphotic Mote (rhythm guitar), Ominous Fugue (bass), and Ignis Fatuus (drums). Their costumes differ from the heavy metal fashion and look like "suits and executioners' masks save for vocalist The Curator, who wears a huge, tattered wizard's hat that obscures his face

MeatPieEye's Top 10 Albums of 2010 !!!

Posted by admin on Friday, December 17, 2010

2010 thrashed and thrived in the metal scene, (despite the deaths and illness) and I was hoping Necrophagist would sneak in and sucker punch their way into the top three, but I guess we'll have to wait until next year.

10) Unrequited and Unscathed - Terrorhorse

Metal heads from London, Ontario make a head-splitting debut album. The ablum reveals technical thrash traits with a heavy groove sound, that would give any n00b carpel tunnel syndrome in an instant. The album also carries raw, bone crushing vocals that would strip a man naked with the force of a tsunami.

9) Bloody Pit of Horror - Gwar

Gwar made an  appearance in my top 10 last year, winning it all in the #1 slot. It's awesome to see a band with over a dozen studio albums  (BPoH is their 13th) still rocking out and staying well into their prime.

http://www.mediafire.com/?o6h2525k0a48a74

8) Misled By Certainty - Cephalic Carnage

You guys didn't think I'd leave Cephalic Carnage standing outside in the cold did you? Misled By Certainty is yet another first-class experimental grindcore album with touches of tech  expertise, death metal and groove.

7) Infernal Earthly Divine - Crucifyre

Crucifyre sneaking out of no where and shooting out insane black metal music at your face. It leaves me thinking where the fuck did these guys come from?? I didn't get an email, postcard, phonecall.. Nothing!

6) Jupiter - Athiest

Atheist is a technical death metal band from Florida, founded in 1984, whose music combines metal riffs with subtle latin music arrangements. It took 17 years for this album to come out since their 3rd studio album 'Elements'. The only thing that gets me in the time-length fans waited 17 years and we get a little over half an hour of an album.

http://www.mediafire.com/?5lexlyadzdc59t2

5) Manical Miscreation - Cerebral Bore

Cerebral Bore hails from Glasgow, Scotland and is a four piece Brutal Death Metal band. This album carries song of the year "Entombed In Butchered Bodies". The next "Hammer Smashed Face" [Cannibal Corpse] in the death metal genre. This album strikes #5 just because of that one hit wonder.

4) Kvelertak - Kvelertak

Kvelertak is a six-piece rock band from Stavanger, Norway. All lyrics are written in Norwegian, the band's native language, and concerning Norse mythology/Viking folklore. This self-titled album displays a bunch of different sub-metal genres which makes it superb for any metal fan.

3) Heirs To Thievery - Misery Index

Heirs To Thievery is the fourth full length album by American deathgrind band Misery Index. It was released by Relapse Records on May 11, 2010. As always this album serves fast, brutal and vile death/grind core as always.

http://www.mediafire.com/?c00cqrspm8pyp2c

2) Polarity - Decrepit Birth

Decrepit Birth is a death metal band from Santa Cruz, California, USA, signed to Nuclear Blast. I like how techical Polarity is, their last two albums are standard death metal, but Polarity is faster, better played and more technical. If they were testing the waters (so to speak) they did a great job.

1) Crossing the Rubicon - House of Thumbs

This album is insane, a trully underated epic Aussie metal album. The riffs and drums in this album are so heavy, it would leave you thinking their was a frag grenade inside your chest. I had the decency of beta-testing some tracks back in early 09' and from the first listen I knew these guys had something good about them. Cheers, you crazy Aussie bastards!

The Contortionist Discography

Posted by admin on Thursday, September 2, 2010

Bottom heavy open chords that resonate strong enough to shake the core of the earth. Skyrocketing bursts of oscillating guitar leads layer an ominous and dark undercurrent of rhythm. While hardcore punk may be the sound that rules the day in The Contortionist hometown of Indianapolis, it is the band’s signature brand of forward thinking heavy metal that has made them stick out as hometown favorites. Rings of Saturn - "Embryonic Anomaly"

Posted by admin on Friday, June 25, 2010

Rings of Saturn, who formed in 2009 are an experimental/technical death metal band from Bay Area, CA. They recently released their debut full length album, "Embryonic Anomaly", which was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Bob Swanson at Mayhemenness Studios in Sacramento, CA. Prior to recording the new album, Rings Of Saturn had one pre-production song on their page, entitled 'Abducted'. The track set a precedent of sorts for fans, displaying what the band was capable of, but ultimately served as nothing more than a teaser of what was to come. Though young and somewhat inexperienced, Rings of Saturn's drive and determination remain steadfast.

The Crinn Discography

Since their formation in August 2005, The Crinn from Saint Paul, MN, have demonstrated their unrelenting work ethic, progressive musical evolution, determined professionalism, and restless creativity. The Crinn self released the “Kills Curiosity” EP (2006), mixing capricious hardcore and technical musical elements. A year later and with a new vocalist, they recorded and released their self titled EP "The Crinn" (2007). Shortly after, The Crinn and drummer Corey Melom parted ways, which led to the introduction of Chris Zugschwert. The Crinn's latest effort, “Dreaming Saturn” (2010) is their first full length and will be released via Nuclear Blast Records.

Sadus Discography

Posted by admin on Thursday, April 8, 2010

Sadus, formed in 1984, is an American highly technical thrash metal trio from Antioch, California. While its very first efforts were based highly on Slayer, the band gradually progressed and developed its sound into a unique, innovative kind of music. Even suffering from poor media exposure, the band has been able to reach some of the highest peaks in the technical metal genre, due to the constantly improving musicianship of its members.

Soreption

Posted by admin on Wednesday, March 24, 2010

The story begins when 9 year old Tony Westermark heard Kiss for his first time and decided to be a rockstar, no thougths of being anything else.
He got his first drumkit when he was twelve and started out with his first band right away. The band introduced him to Metallica and the music blew him away. They played Metallica covers for a couple of years and then got into heavier stuff like Pantera etc. At the age of 15 he discovered Death Metal and got serious about his drumming and started to write music.
