Evermore Darkly is an EP by the British extreme metal band Cradle of Filth, to be released in October 2011. A companion piece to the 2010 album Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa, it contains two new tracks in "Transmission From Hell" and "Thank Your Lucky Scars", plus alternate versions of some Venus Aversa tracks. An orchestral version of "Summer Dying Fast" (a track from 1994's The Principle of Evil Made Flesh album, reworked previously for 2001's Bitter Suites to Succubi) is also included as a taster for the forthcoming Midnight in the Labyrinth collection.

Abzu is the sixth studio album by Black metal band Absu to be released in 2011 by Candlelight Records. It features new members Vis Crom on guitar, and Ezezu on bass and vocals - although Ezezu did join the band after the recording of "Absu", this is his first studio recording with Absu.

What happens when you put a bunch of bloodthirsty music-loving goblins together? Well, a lot of disembowelment, but also a lot of catchy tunes. Formed six millenia ago, and practicing only every other leap year on a full moon, the band has perfected their brand of crushing goblin music. If you didn't believe that first part, Nekrogoblikon is a goblin metal band hailing from the grim metal locale of
California, USA.
Their first humor was about goblins and space and power rangers and a whole bunch of funny shit, this latest release seems to be taken a lot more seriously. Less folk, more black. I still like it.

Nattsmyg is a Black Pagan/Folk Metal band from Skåne, Sweden, created in 2005 by Dan “Nattsmyg” Heikenberg.
Dan played in the Viking Metal band Frostnatt before, but he didn’t get along well with the other band members and so he stopped with it and formed Nattsmyg. With the help of Anton “Svartsmed” Hinterlach, who also played in Frostnatt, he recorded a first demo tape called “I Nattens Dunkel”. He continued his solo-project and untill now he has recorded five demos and two full-lengths with Nattsmyg.

Withered hail from Atlanta, Georgia, home of a great resurgence of metal. They play a mix of black/death with some sludge put ontop. There are a few times I found myself thinking while listening to this album (such as track 2 - Reside in the Void) that there was a distinct Mastodon progression. But dont let that throw you off, This band is full of unique progressions and soundscapes.

Viking Crown was a short-lived and essentially solo side project started by Phil Anselmo in the mid-90s. The members of the band are Anselmo (under the pseudonym Anton Crowley) on guitars, bass and drums; Killjoy on vocals; and Opal Enthroned (Stephanie Opal Weinstein) on keyboards. On their first album Unorthodox Steps of Ritual, Anselmo played every instrument and laid down his own vocals. The band never performed live.

Christ Inversion was formed in 1994. The group was a short-lived blackened death metal project formed by Phil Anselmo. Most of their lyrics were based on horror films and Satanism. The band recorded two demos and then disbanded without ever recording a full-length album. The first demo was renamed and re-released on Anselmo's own Housecore Records on October 28, 2008.

Embers was formed in 2004 by Kelly Nelson on bass and vocals, Steven DeCaprio on guitar, and Jerry Buchanan on drums. Embers has been noted as one of a number of prominent San Francisco Bay Area metal acts to feature women. The fact that three members of the band are female is notable due to the historic lack of female representation in heavy metal. Embers has been referred to as a Red and Anarchist Black Metal group. This is partially because Kelly Nelson and Steven DeCaprio’s previous band Lesser of Two was an anarchist punk rock band noted for their independent D.I.Y. ethic. This is also partially due to the radical lifestyle of the band members.

I admit it. I only checked this band out due to the name, it brought to mind all sorts of badass imagery, this is just their demo but with a name like that I suspect some great album covers down the road. They play a slower blend of black metal, its a great demo you should all check out, be sure to show some support on their
bandcamp. They also offer it free to download from there.

Gallhammer is a Japanese extreme metal group that draws on black metal, doom metal, and crust punk.They formed in Tokyo in 2003. All of the members are female, which is rare in their genre. This is their latest.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, lifes been a bit hectic as usual, and ill be away from my computing area for a week give or take. I figured I would post some things that are more appealing generally than my usual so everyone can get some good tunes to sample before my week off.
The Secret plays a form of hardcore black sluge that I would say is hard to replicate. There are passages that could remind one of Mastodon, but the very next track is nasty, filled with haunting melodies that Marduk could create. This album keeps it fresh and interesting throughout. Definitely worthy of any metal heads shelf space, but ill let you guys vote with your downloads.
