The Order of Apollyon - The Flesh

Trying to recover from another crashed HDD, went with a seagate 500gb 7200rpm, hopefully an improvement over my Western digital pos. If this doesn't work im going with a solid state, tired of having things fry all the time.

Anyways, last thing I uploaded before the failure was this nugget from newly reinstated Cradle Of Filth guitarist James McIlroy. In between Nymphetamine and Darkly Darkly... McIlroy made this little death outfit which reminds me a bit of an under-produced Behemoth. Feturing members of bands such as Akercocke, Trigger the Bloodshed, and Aosoth, this "super group" has a lot to prove but does it actually get there? The only gripe I personally have with the album is the music roaring over the vocals. Other than that this album really creates a great atmosphere.

Worth a listen by any regards, and a youtube link to preview, of course. Remember if you like the band, by the music!

Book of Black Earth

Third full-length from these dudes. Its definitely more universal in composition than what I traditional post. Sounds like a mix between Goatwhore and Impaled. There are definately moments on this album where i can't help but hear other bands inspirations comming through. The first track reminds me so much of Gorgoroth's Wound Upon Wound that I had to listen to them side by side to see if it wasn't a blatant copy! A few riffs reminded me of Matodon as well (track 2). I'm sure ANY metal fan could find this a great listen!

Withered

Withered hail from Atlanta, Georgia, home of a great resurgence of metal. They play a mix of black/death with some sludge put ontop. There are a few times I found myself thinking while listening to this album (such as track 2 - Reside in the Void) that there was a distinct Mastodon progression. But dont let that throw you off, This band is full of unique progressions and soundscapes.

Towering Filth - Encircled By Wolves

Towering Filth is a solo project formed by Matt Koch. Drums, guitar, bass, synths, vocals, mixing and mastering, he does it all. A mix of heavy/blackened violence, this EP pulls from different styles, having influences from such bands as The Abominable Iron Sloth, Unsane, Neurosis, Krallice, and Wolves in the Throne Room. I discovered Towering Filth through the music blog I write for, and from that I was also contacted by Matt to design his new logo.

Rudra

Rudra isn't a name that you hear gracing the charts of any top 10 or being nominated for band of the year, or even touring near you. Not until 2005 did they even become known much outside their nation of Singapore. Black metal, Thrash, Death, many elements come together to make this crying goddess howl. Its great extreme metal and their discography is worthy of any metal head into such things. Today's album is from 2009, although they have released a newer album, Brahmavidya: Immortal I, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting ahold of it.

Blasphemous, nothing better. Newest offering from Necros Christos, Doom of the Occult. Death metal with a bit of black and thrash tossed upon it. No wait, doom. No wait, its a bit unpredictable.
