What happens when you put a bunch of bloodthirsty music-loving goblins together? Well, a lot of disembowelment, but also a lot of catchy tunes. Formed six millenia ago, and practicing only every other leap year on a full moon, the band has perfected their brand of crushing goblin music. If you didn't believe that first part, Nekrogoblikon is a goblin metal band hailing from the grim metal locale of
California, USA.
Their first humor was about goblins and space and power rangers and a whole bunch of funny shit, this latest release seems to be taken a lot more seriously. Less folk, more black. I still like it.

Nattsmyg is a Black Pagan/Folk Metal band from Skåne, Sweden, created in 2005 by Dan “Nattsmyg” Heikenberg.
Dan played in the Viking Metal band Frostnatt before, but he didn’t get along well with the other band members and so he stopped with it and formed Nattsmyg. With the help of Anton “Svartsmed” Hinterlach, who also played in Frostnatt, he recorded a first demo tape called “I Nattens Dunkel”. He continued his solo-project and untill now he has recorded five demos and two full-lengths with Nattsmyg.

The Flight of Sleipnir was formed in the winter of 2007 by David Csicsely (Acheronian Dirge, Nexhymn, ex-Throcult) and Clayton Cushman (Acheronian Dirge, ex-Throcult). The project stemmed from a desire to explore ethereal and progressive sounds with lyrics that explore the rich literature of ancient Scandinavia. Keeping elements of their other projects and building a foundation upon doom and vintage metal

Celtic Pink Floyd is a project devoted to the arrangement of classic Pink Floyd songs with a Celtic rock twist. Traditional instruments such as; uilleann pipes, fiddle, tin whistle, accordion, banjo, dulcimer, bodhrán, mandolin, and bones are utilized, as well as contemporary vocals, guitars, bass and drums. Started simply as a "crazy, but just may work" idea, Celtic Pink Floyd has some amazing vocalists and musicians contributing their expertise to this twelve-track CD. Arrangers, producers and musicians, Damon Stout & Brian Stout are the guilty parties behind the madness, all while working in conjunction with producer Michael Vail Blum to form a hybrid of traditional Celtic music combined with classic rock. A portion of the CD’s proceeds will be donated to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.

River Gypsies formed in January of 2008, when Mike Mahoney(Apraizal, How's Casney?) met Bjorn Andersen(Pooch Carver, Avernus) in Lake Villa, IL. The two were going through tough times and sought a way to express the raw emotions that were created by their dark pasts. The two found that their styles mixed to form something new, unique, and therapeutic!! Neither member was any good at singing, so when they got together with singer/ song-writer/ producer, Doug Smith( Pooch Carver, Palmetto, Avernus) amazing recordings began to appear! The three are currently in the process of getting recognition, playing magical performances and evolving as recording artists. Truly, music from the lost and beautiful, for the lost and beautiful. Enjoy!!!

Wars of the Roses is the eighth studio album by the Norwegian experimental band Ulver. Ulver (Norwegian for “wolves”) is a musical group from Norway. Since their first, folklore-influenced black metal release entitled Bergtatt - Et eeventyr i 5 capitler (1995), Ulver’s musical style has been fluid and increasingly eclectic, blending genres such as rock, electronica, symphonic and chamber traditions, noise and experimental music into their oeuvre, but with a heavy reliance on electronic recording techniques.

Melancholy just seems to be a natural catalyst for black metal. Within Dronenreich's newest album, Flammentriebe, you will find crushing black metal that tears at your heartstrings. Combined with folk and classical influences makes this a monster of an album that will hold your attention and rip it to shreds throughout its entirety. I could compare this to such bands as Shining (the dsbm, not the wierd jazz band) and Lifelover, but that would leave out so many other ear catching parts of this album. Its better to go into this with open ears and 47 minutes worth of time to devote :P
I just have this newest album, but after hearing it i needs moar :3

Thin Lizzy are an Irish hard rock band formed in Dublin in 1969. The two founding members, drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist/vocalist Phil Lynott met while still in school. Lynott took up the role of frontman and led them throughout their recording career of thirteen studio albums. After Lynott's death in 1986, various incarnations of the band have emerged over the years based around guitarists Scott Gorham and John Sykes, though Sykes left the band in 2009.

Bolero - a devastating onslaught of neoclassical blackened folk metal with a lyrical concept based around heathenistic worldview, crushes the boundaries of modern metal alongside their expansive list of contemporaries from which they draw their influence. Catchy melodies melded with memorable structures, hardened with solid riffage and miles of upbeat drumwork. Epic keyboard layers thoughtfully forged with the solid array of metal riffing and lead work overtop of the crushing rhythmic bass and drumwork, complimented with venomous vocals and clean vocal breaks.
These boys are from Ontario, glad to see we still put out some killer music.Voyage From Vinland (2011)

Risen from the ashes of Fall of The Bastards. Oakhelm is a folk/black metal band out of Portland, Oregon. Their debut full-length entitled “Betwixt and Between” is out right now via-Forest Moon Special Productions. The lyrics are deeply influenced by the “Celtic Book of the Dead”, word-of-mouth ‘texts’ that deal with shamanic journeys one can take to cleanse themselves of their inner turmoils.

Mixing it up a little bit, people seem to enjoy the occasional foray away from the metals. If you couldn't guess THIS IS NOT METAL!!! It is folk rock, with one album (The Hazards of Love) falling into the progressive rock sound. Don't bitch because it isn't metal, you've been warned.
The Decemberists are an indie folk rock band from Portland, Oregon, United States, fronted by singer/songwriter Colin Meloy. The other members of the band are Chris Funk (guitar, multi-instrumentalist), Jenny Conlee (hammond organ, accordion, melodica, piano, keyboards, harmonica), Nate Query (bass guitar, string bass), and John Moen (drums, backing vocals, melodica, guitar). The band's debut EP,
5 Songs, was self-released in 2001. Their sixth full-length album,
The King Is Dead, was released on 14 January 2011, by Capitol Records. It was the band's third record with the label.

Stand Up and Fight is the third album by the Finnish symphonic / folk metal band Turisas, planned to be released on February 23, 2011 through Century Media. The album continues to develop the themes started by The Varangian Way, but it is not actually a sequel. The lyrics, dealing with the 11th century Byzantine Empire have a universal appeal and are applicable to the modern world. Musically, the band claims to have incorporated more progressive elements, as well as influences from such genres as the 1980s stadium rock. For the first time, real string and horn sections were used to record the album.
