Celtic Pink Floyd

Posted by admin on Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Celtic Pink Floyd is a project devoted to the arrangement of classic Pink Floyd songs with a Celtic rock twist. Traditional instruments such as; uilleann pipes, fiddle, tin whistle, accordion, banjo, dulcimer, bodhrán, mandolin, and bones are utilized, as well as contemporary vocals, guitars, bass and drums. Started simply as a "crazy, but just may work" idea, Celtic Pink Floyd has some amazing vocalists and musicians contributing their expertise to this twelve-track CD. Arrangers, producers and musicians, Damon Stout & Brian Stout are the guilty parties behind the madness, all while working in conjunction with producer Michael Vail Blum to form a hybrid of traditional Celtic music combined with classic rock. A portion of the CD’s proceeds will be donated to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.

River Gypsies

Posted by admin on Wednesday, May 4, 2011

River Gypsies formed in January of 2008, when Mike Mahoney(Apraizal, How's Casney?) met Bjorn Andersen(Pooch Carver, Avernus) in Lake Villa, IL. The two were going through tough times and sought a way to express the raw emotions that were created by their dark pasts. The two found that their styles mixed to form something new, unique, and therapeutic!! Neither member was any good at singing, so when they got together with singer/ song-writer/ producer, Doug Smith( Pooch Carver, Palmetto, Avernus) amazing recordings began to appear! The three are currently in the process of getting recognition, playing magical performances and evolving as recording artists. Truly, music from the lost and beautiful, for the lost and beautiful. Enjoy!!!

You've all been waiting

Primordial vocalist A.A. Nemtheanga comments on the new album:

"If I had to sum this album up I would say this is the 'death' album. Plain and simple. There isn't exactly a whole concept but many of the themes deal with mortality, how we deal with it. The spiritual structures we place around us to make sense of it. Sex, death, procreation and god. As we get older our relationship to our lives changes, the realization you will not live forever, the grand plan you hoped to uncover never materializes, food for worms and nothing more. We are animals, beasts and making peace with that beast might be your life's work but more often than not he is never tamed.

"Once a wolf always a wolf. We all seek redemption in one way or another, from lies or from truth. Those of us who are godless or faithless often envy the man of faith for his life seems to have an extra purpose, despite the fact that logic, pragmatism, science and realism should crush any sign of faith, we still persist in lying to ourselves. Perhaps the alternative is too much to bear. So the themes of religion, mortality and death occur over and over again, along with continuing themes of alienation, martyrdom, sacrifice, violence and retribution. Occasionally, very occasionally a chink of light breaks through. This is our seventh album, you know what to expect, passion, intensity, commitment and sheer bloody mindedness. Don't expect fantasy or escapism. No remorse, no regret."

Everybody Out! is a rock band formed in 2007 by former Dropkick Murphys guitarist Rick Barton and former The Dead Pets and Lost City Angels frontman Sweeney Todd. Their eponymous debut LP was released on April 8, 2008. Various friends and musicians contributed to the record but the band's most current lineup is Barton and Todd, along with Mike McMillen (lead guitar), Sean Laforce (bass), and Kevin Garvin (drums), all previously from the Boston area Metalcore band On Broken Wings. Recently, Sweeney Todd has left the band. While rumors fly as to who his replacement will be, no one has been announced at this time.

Blood or Whiskey Discography

I ment to post all of these earlier in the month, so you all could have some good Celtic tunes to celebrate the 17th with. Oh well, I forgot and I still have them, so it's time to distribute. I promise that I will focus on some metal after these, I swear it!

Blood or Whiskey is an Irish punk/folk band from Leixlip, County Kildare, Republic of Ireland. The band was formed in September 1993 taking strong influence from Shane MacGowan, as well as The Pogues and The Clash. The band originally had problems with their non-traditional music style among native Irish fans and released their first album Blood or Whiskey in 1996. Several years of touring followed before the release of No Time to Explain which was followed by a tour of the US.
