War of the Roses

Posted by admin on Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Wars of the Roses is the eighth studio album by the Norwegian experimental band Ulver. Ulver (Norwegian for “wolves”) is a musical group from Norway. Since their first, folklore-influenced black metal release entitled Bergtatt - Et eeventyr i 5 capitler (1995), Ulver’s musical style has been fluid and increasingly eclectic, blending genres such as rock, electronica, symphonic and chamber traditions, noise and experimental music into their oeuvre, but with a heavy reliance on electronic recording techniques.

One of my favourite records. Really intense, math-y, post-rock. I hope you guys enjoy this album as much I do! Just listen to the first track; pure brilliance, and then just let the sound drift you away.

Tail Swallower And Dove by These Arms Are Snakes

Posted by admin

As promised, here is the follow-up to Easter and last album of the great band These Arms Are Snakes. This album sees the band going into a more serious direction, while still maintaining their roots that made Easter such an amazing album.

If you liked Easter, then you will probably like this one, and if not, you probably won't. If you want to check this band for the first time then I would suggest to do so with Easter, which can be found HERE.

Sorry for not writing a lengthy review as I usually do, but I've been fairly busy. However, I did not consider it acceptable to keep delaying this post, as I had promised to get it up.

Easter by These Arms Are Snakes

Posted by admin on Wednesday, March 2, 2011

These Arms Are Snakes were one of the, in my opinion, best Post-Hardcore bands to appear on the surface of the earth. With members such as Brian Cook of Botch fame, this album is amazingly intricate, with many intertwining melodies, sporadic complex rhythms and Electronical flourishes. However, that is not what I like about These Arms Are Snakes, no, what I really like is just how damn fun it is to listen to them. Easter is the kind of record that you can play to your not-metalhead friends and have a shot at them liking it, while at the same time providing an intense and breath-taking experience. After disbanding ( :( ), the members of the band went on to other great bands such as Russian Circles, and they also toured with bands like ISIS, Pelican, Mastodon and many others.

Seriously, if you don't like this record, you either have a penchant against Post-Hardcore or are old and grumpy.

NOTE: Not sure if anyone even cares who does the posting, read the post or anything other than simply going directly for the link, but I would like to note you guys that I will be absent until next Wednesday for a family trip, but as soon I get back I will make sure to upload the follow-up to this album, Tail Swallower And Dove!

Electric Six Discography

Posted by admin

Electric Six is a six-piece metro Detroit-based band that plays what has been described as a brand of rock music infused with elements of "garage, disco, punk, new wave, and metal." The band met recognition in 2003 with the singles "Danger! High Voltage" and "Gay Bar", and subsequently recorded seven full-length albums.

As for an idea of the sound, Dick Valentine (vocals) cites Freddie Mercury, Talking Heads, Falco, Devo, and Captain Beefheart as his musical influences, as well as Black Sabbath, Queen and KISS for the rest of the group.

The Unquiet Void is the electronic alter ego of Jason Wallach. Since 1989, he has created a unique style of synthesized ambiance that stirs the soul and stimulates the mind.
Working as a one-man electronic orchestra, Jason composes pieces of celestial ambiance. He has honed his stylings on numerous compilations, usually paying tribute to those artists that had influenced him over his decade long musical career. Covers of David Bowie, Lycia and Black Tape for a Blue Girl as well as original compositions have gained The Unquiet Void an international following of ethereal and ambient music fans.

The Ocean Discography

Posted by admin on Wednesday, April 21, 2010

The Ocean, founded in 2000 by guitarist and songwriter Robin Staps, is an experimental metal band from Berlin, Germany. Their work combines elements of progressive metal with classical music and electronic soundscapes to create their aggressive post-metal sound. During the following two years, about 40 musicians joined and left the band until a stable line-up was established. The band released their eponymous debut album "Islands/Tides" (2001). In early 2003, the band signed to Make My Day Records, which then released "Fogdiver", an EP consisting of five instrumental songs. The Ocean recorded what was to become the material for their two following albums, the calmer and more atmospheric half of this recording session was released as "Fluxion" (2004) and all the remaining songs from the session were released as Aeolian (2005). In late 2007, they released a new 2 disc album entitled "Precambrian". The Ocean is releasing two albums in 2010, one in March, the other in October. The first record will be called Heliocentric (2010) and the second record will be called Anthropocentric (2010).
