Sun Devoured Earth

Posted by admin on Thursday, June 16, 2011

Heres a little band thats more shoegaze than black metal, but still great. Compared to big names such as Amesoeurs or Alcest, this band can stand toe to toe with em. Not uploading Any of the music, the artist's blog has some links for listening and such and tons of it is up on youtube. Give em a try and support the band!

I, Vigilante.

Posted by admin on Sunday, September 5, 2010

I, Vigilante is the 4th studio album by post/progressive rock supergroup Crippled Black Phoenix. Featuring members of Mogwai + Electric Wizard. Plus some more bands.

They really have a very cinematic approach to this genre and the pretty haunting rhythms make this an album that i cant stop playing! Definately a band to check out if you're feeling adventerous, even if you're not a fan of this genre normally! Check it out!

Écailles de lune

Posted by admin on Saturday, March 6, 2010

Alcest is now Neige's testimony of the evanescent visions/memories he had as a child about a fantastic faraway world : a plane of existence bathed in a pearly light, beyond all terrestrial beauties, which could perhaps be described as a sort of "intermediate stage" ; the soul would rest there between two earthly lives and would for some time be freed of the burden of incarnation. The first chapter of this journey was "Le Secret" EP, which was released in 2005 by Drakkar Productions. In 2007, Neige agreed to a contract with the German label Prophecy Productions and released Alcest's debut album "Souvenirs d'un autre monde" the same year. All music/lyrics/artwork are deeply linked to Alcest's concept and aim at depicting that "place" and the ecstatic feelings one can experience there. This project is a real quest, a perpetual wandering through unknown regions, the hope of which is to shed some light on some mysteries of this esoteric experience.

eaststrikewest - wolvves

Posted by admin on Monday, December 28, 2009

Eaststrikewest are a British post/alternative rock band. Combined textured post rock soundscapes and upbeat strikes of rhythm, this bands debut should of made it in my top 10 of the year, fantastic, honestly brilliant. Definately worth you downloading even if you don't like post rock.

Alcest Discography

Posted by admin on Thursday, September 17, 2009

Alcest is a musical project born in Bagnols-sur-Cèze, France (now relocated in Paris where Neige lives). Beginning as a raw black metal act in 1999, Alcest later became a vessel for Neige's "memories of another world" as the band evolved into his solo-project. While Alcest still retains some black metal roots, the music now draws more comparison to other genres such as shoegaze and post-rock. Neige has stated in interviews that he had not listened to these types of music prior to the recording of Souvenirs d'un autre monde.
