In the aftermath of the entire Sean Bell situation, I found one response that resonated exactly what I was thinking, but wasn't sure how to communicate into words. As agile as Scratch of Scritch and Scratch is with his art, he is with his words and reasoning. Bringing a brilliant blog post with some wise advice, some ways to avoid a situation with police, should they confront you.
It's inevitable that everyone, at one point or another, will have an encounter with the authorities -- more so as a minority. I recall many interesting instances in my past where I was roaming around the city on work-related matters in the overnight hours, getting profiled and hassled quite often. You just need to know how to handle yourself, so you can ensure that you make it home at the end of the night. Ultimately, that's the only thing that should matter -- getting home, so you could see tomorrow at home, not in a jail cell.
