ABU! Disco Scratch Takeover Show - September 2011

.....And here it is. September's (show #12) 2-hour bonanza of beautiful, bountiful, body-rocking, booming beats as heard last night on Disco Scratch Radio

Today kids, our topic is....

The chatroom was pure filth ('W*nk Wipes'!) as per normal and LG's eternal 'Are You Being Served' quotes went above and beyond the call of duty!

ABU! Live On Air This Week #1

Back again after the Summer break. It's the return of The Ageing B-Boys Unite! Disco Scratch Takeover Show this Thursday 29th @9pm - 11pm, September 2011.

As you may know from the previous Disco Scratch show, this is the last regular one for a while, however ABU! will endeavour to be here at the end of the month (October) for a Hallowe'en Special.

Tune in on Thursday for some very tasty grooves, hip hop classics, legendary Electro tunes, b-boy breaks and a couple of selections that you won't expect to hear on any other show.
Get in the chatroom and join the banter. We welcome all newcomers.

They're Back! Disco Scratch Mugs! / DS Radio News

In case, like me, you missed out on the original batch of official Disco Scratch mugs earlier in the year then you better not sleep on this.
Back again in a limited quantity of 10, yes 10 only. And they may well be the last ones.

To paraphrase Mr Morgan Khan, is it going to be you that gets one - or some wally poser that moved faster?!?

Move your butts and get clicking to THIS LINK NOW.

And on a sad note, this may be the last month of regular Disco Scratch Radio shows.
Lord Waxer of Freshhiphopshire is taking the show on a hiatus due to real life commitments and won't be able to commit to a weekly spot for the forseeable future.
Therefore the final shows will be as follows:

15th Sept - Regular show - Waxer getting busy on the wheels of steel taking requests and schoolin' suckers.
22nd Sept - No show
29th Sept - ABU Takeover Show

As for the meantime I will still be continuing with the Takeover Shows although as I won't be actually taking over anything in particular then they will revert back to the ABU Monthly Podcasts.
I'm looking into maybe streaming the show live once a month then putting them up for download afterwards. Maybe. It'd be nice, but no promises.

ABU! Takeover Show Podcast - DSR56

Wow. What a blast last night was in the Disco Scratch chatroom.
Seriously, it was nothing but good times throughout the 2.5 hours with Norman graciously taking his summer holiday.

If you were listening in live right to the end then you will have heard the bonus Easter Eggs such as the classic Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Finch and Straight Outta Tipton, as well as some early Waxer productions AND an exclusive first-play of the unreleased studio mix of a track featuring Whirlwind D, '32 And Tea'.

Boomshanka!
Wow, again. '...Kangaroo' is a classic with it's ingenious use of a particular Simon Harris voiceover over Rolf Harris but '..Tipton', well, that's another story. I've heard this a number of times and yet I still fall about giggling with tears in my eyes EVERY TIME. Whoever made this is truly a master of this craft.

Again, this extra content is only available to the live listeners after the 2-hour show is over.

Anyway, as to the show itself - the last ABU! Takeover Show of the summer - it's now available for download below.

Thanks to everyone who tuned in last night. If you missed it then grab it now.

He Could Crush A Grape

For anyone that missed it, here is the link to the show which went out live on www.discoscratch.co.uk/radio on Thursday evening.

There was a lot of banter in the chatroom and a full house with the usual suspects and extra guests including the one and only Morgan Khan making a brief surprise appearance.

Apologies as the usual precision-tight editing was slightly off on the broadcast due to some nerdiness, the details of which I'll not bother you with. Save to say Waxer was on point and managed to bring the show to a great conclusion.
Last-minute editing may be some people's bag, but not mine baby.

Sadly to anyone who didn't catch it live, you will have missed the Easter Eggs after the show.
This included Straight Outta Tipton, a play on NWA's tune from their first album. Just writing about it now is bringing grins to my mush and tears to my eyes. The producer of this version is clearly a very sick individual who needs medical help.

Finchy's Theme was played also. This is a remixed version of Rolf Harris' Tie Me Kangaroo Down with added scratch from Waxer utilising a certain vocal ident spouting the recognition of the one and only Agent Finch by none other than our very own Simon Harris.

Lastly, Wax hit us with a very, very exclusive and hot off the press playing of his intro track to the upcoming Heroes Of UK Hip Hop Mix Swap 2011.
As with the other tracks here, these were played, as Rakim would say, only for the listeners. It pays to listen live. And to the very end.

Remember, the next ABU! Takeover is Thursday 28th July.

Tracklisting:

01  Marley Marl & MC Shan - Marley Marl Scratch
02  Lil Jazzy Jay & Cool Supreme - B-Boy Style
03  Latin Rascals -  Axel F (New York Rap Remix)
04  Freestyle - The Party Has Just Begun
05  Roxanne Shante - Bite This
06  The Willesden Dodgers - Gunsmoke Breakout (for Laz-E)
07  Dedications 1
08  Two Sisters - B-Boys Beware
09  LL Cool J - I Can't Live Without My Radio
10  Sweet Trio - Non-Stop
11  Run DMC - Jam Master Jay
12  Egyptian Lover - Dance
13  The LA Dream Team - The Dream Team Is In The House
14  DJ Born Supreme Allah - 2, 3, Break (The Sequel)
15  Man Parrish - Hey There Homeboys
16  Krush Groove Allstars - Krush Groovin'
17  The Hardrock Soul Movement - Do It Any Way Ya Wanna
18  The Dynamic Duo Ft Shaquan - Knights Of The Turntables
19  Dedications 2
20  Sparky D - He's My DJ

I advise you all if you haven't already, to visit the best Mike Allen website on the internet:

Next Podcast...Mike Allen Tribute Show. Help Needed.

I wasn't talking out of my butt when I said in the last Podcast that I wanted to do a Mike Allen Special. Nope.

After reading the PDF that LG put up recently got me thinking that Mike isn't likely to ever revisit the studios to take up his reign as (arguably) the King Of Electro.

So.....I want to do the next ABU! Disco Scratch Takeover Show as a 2-hour journey back into a random month in 1985 that Mike would be proud of.
That's right, I'm pulling out all the big guns here, people. I've tracked down the original source material as used on Allen's Army On Maneuvers and am aiming to make this a real trip down memory lane.

But I need you all to get involved just as you may have done back in those days.
Instead of calling 388 7919 I want you to either drop me an email to ageingbboysunite@yahoo.com or leave a comment here at the end of this post giving a shout to your crew.

Now this can be real or imaginary. Or maybe you might want to shout out your old crew from back in the day? Come on, let's get our 80's groove on!

ABU! Disco Scratch Radio Takeover Show May 2011 (DSR49)

May's edition of the ABU Takeover Show on the mighty diggedy-diggedy-Disco Scratch Radio Show was well and truly filled with musical goodies.
The music couldn't have been rougher and the chatroom couldn't have been filthier.
Some absences were duly noted - without any pre-arranged written notification I have to say - it was very disappointing to see no-shows from Scenes and Dapster.
Ultimately these individuals are to sit in a small room listening to the Vanilla Ice Is Back Hip Hop 'Classics' album on repeat for a length of time of which I shall determine.

However there were appearances from the usual suspects as well as Crimes and the Chuckle Brothers (giving up precious time planning their upcoming Laugh Your Arse Off Or The Kitty Gets It Summer Tour on Great Yarmouth Pier 2011)

Tracklist: (look away now if you don't want to see the results)

01  Francis Monkman - The Long Good Friday (1980) (Ahhhh, that's the one!)

DSR45 ABU! Takeover Star Wars Special

Last week was the monthly ABU! Takeover show.
And also due to today being a hallowed day for Star Wars geeks fans (May the 4th) the show was a bit special to reflect this.

I joined the mighty Waxer live in the Palace Of Villainy to co-present the show and we brought the Force with us plundering the back catalogue of hip hop and funk with as much tenuousness as two Jedi's could muster.

The next ABU! show will be different. In fact, I will be live in the POV with the man, Waxer and together we will be celebrating the power and influence of the original Star Wars trilogy.
Forget those other 3 piles of gash, all the other ones that turned up, that weird one about the Ewoks' adventure and mostly, do not mention Star Wars, Christmas and Holiday in the same sentence.

Just the original 3 films will be discussed and sampled and well, you know how we roll.
Don't miss it. Live at 9pm on Thursday 28th April.

Snootchie-bootchies!

The 3rd Podcast is ready and waiting for your downloading pleasure.
The usual classic and funky old buggers' bag of hip hop awaits along with some off-the-wall shitz and giggles.

I decided not to give you a listing this time and instead hit you with it freshski so that it's all a surprise - a good one. Maybe I'll add one later. Maybe not.

Again, if you prefer to listen on your chosen mp3-playing portable device then download from here and transfer at your leisure.
However if you were spoiled as a child and given everything as soon as you demanded it then you will prefer the streaming option below.
I'm not here to judge, baby.

We've given this podcast a Code Blue warning as there is a chance that the listener may encounter some filth-flarn-filth during the broadcast. So unless your co-workers, colleagues, fellow bus passengers, gran or dog are groovy, down-with-the-kids, filth-merchants then be warned.

Special shout to CODE's mum, Flygirl Sue, we know it to be true.
