It's been a rather sporadic week with school kicking up, and simultaneously being an arm-chair meteorologist; trying to predict what's going to hit, and what isn't -- lumped in with the usual routine (read as: busy). There's no worse feeling than scrambling to prepare and not having enough time to, or not having [sufficient] supplies for what could be a long-haul after a storm passes. That being said, I've been a little quiet this week in preparation for what could be a direct hit on South Florida.
I know I mentioned yesterday that there was a frenzy in the streets already, and true indeed. Although, when the crowds start forming in the bottled water aisle, and store employees are posted up at the end-caps, ready for constant re-stocking of those shelves -- take note.
Needless to say, I anticipate working like a fool over the next few days (mainly because of Ike); but then again, what else is new? Nothin' but the rent.
Back to business...
For those new to the blog, I've produced a weekly Drum and Bass radio show every Friday from 4-6pm Eastern on Bassdrive now going on 7 years. I've seen the RIAA go after pirate sites, terrestrial radio, and internet radio but this one is a first. Seems like shit is getting drastic yet again for web broadcasters, which I have a personal stake in as well...
Primo's weekly show Live From HQ will no longer be available in archive form due to a cease and desist order issued by the RIAA. According to Primo's Advocate, A.C. at his PodcastPeople site (which will go off-line on Monday 9/17), this is a temporary measure till they can figure out future plans. Live From HQ airs every Friday, Midnight - 2am Eastern and again on Monday, 3-5am Eastern on Sirius satellite radio

Alongside Primo in the above image is Styles P, whom I've been getting into more and more thanks to my dog, Phatdak. The LOX and such wasn't really my thing back then, I was on something else. Nonetheless, the lyrics are tight, and with Primo on some production, it's gold. He's on some stuck in the blocks of hate shit, and most of the flows get deep. Since the rest of the blogosphere seems to be covering the whole Ed Banger side of things pretty well, here's a little something different from a crew of crazy Danes. Noisia. These guys are among the group of exceptional producers the industry has to offer. They manage to maintain their own sound and style regardless of whatever genre label or tempo is applied. Similarly, they still port over a lot of their Drum and Bass production skill into the other beats they produce. Their mixdowns are phenomenal and there is always a perfect harmony among the elements in their tunes. Previously they also did tunes as Hustle Athletics and Frizz, but now it's all Noisia. I'm actually into most of their alternate styles quite a bit (see Yellow Brick, Gutterpump, Raar, and the Hustle Atheltics stuff) and you can hear a lot of them on my Friday night radio show. Their downtempo sounds like some gritty turntablism, b-boy shit. Listen to Square Feet, trust me.
