Alaska & Paradox // The Isolationist LP

The Isolationist is the phenomenal debut LP from Alaska & Paradox now available on Paradox Music. If this says anything, the entire album has been in my playlist all week -- and listened to beginning to end. I highly recommend it for drum and bass and downtempo fans alike, or if you just into good drum work, lush ambient textures and moody beats. If you're familiar with Alaska & Paradox, you can expect the same quality-forward thinking music. If you don't know the name, give it a listen -- it's well worth it.

A Made Up Sound // Shortcuts

Let me start by wishing all y'all a very Happy New Year. May nothing but the best bless all y'all in 2009.

Some of you may know about Dave Huismans, or 2562, some may not -- that's part of why I'm here. In my opinion, this guy makes some of the more forward-thinking dubstep I've heard, but Shortcuts is definitely not that. This compilation brings together some of his dopest beat experiments. If you want to hear something different (and very raw), pick this up -- it's some next shit. Apparently, all of these tracks were recorded in June 2004 while on a very disciplined work schedule. If you enjoy soulful, deep, yet tech'ed-out flavor; you'll certainly be into this. This is phenomenal.

Headhunter // Nomad LP

Even if you know absolutely nothing about Headhunter, dubstep, or have already formed an opinion regarding the genre; scratch that and give his debut LP, Nomad a solid listen. For fans of Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound, this is going to be love. I'm all over it, this is a great album from start to finish.

Go buy this, you won't be disappointed.

DJ Babu ft M.O.P. // Dearly Departed

STAND UP.

Wow. The track on this is serious. Babu flips some massive horns on a latin tip, with a sample I swear is Celia Cruz. It taps into the Cuban in me. I'm staring at the speaker with my head tilted to the side, ala Nipper, the RCA dog.

Look out for Babu's Duck Season 3, out October 28th on Nature Sounds.

Blueprint 3 // Production From No I.D.?

What was originally going to be an album fully, if not mostly, produced by Kanye West, now also enlists the talents of Chicago-based producer No I.D. for Jay-Z's forthcoming Blueprint 3.

Does this completely through out the idea of going back to an album entirely produced by one beatsmith? Was this expected?

GZA // ProTools Album Sampler [ Previews ]

Although this is being pushed as a sampler, I think these were the 30-seconds snippets that were available briefly on FatBeats. The filesizes look more like previews than full versions.

Blueprint 3 Update

Kevin called it, Q4 album drop; and Mick Boogie confirms.

Excerpt:

+ Kanye will indeed be producing most, if not all, of the album. Remember back in the day when an artist would do a whole album with one producer for cohesiveness? Think classic Snoop or Jeru with Primo... and fast forward it to 2008.

+ Jay will be leaking the finished version of "Jockin" as soon as he adds a new 3rd verse to the song.

+ Tracks to look for include the aforementioned "Jockin' Jay-Z" and a new track entitled "Victory" that the rumor mill says is simply amazing.
