Whips and Chickenheads!

From the undisputed king of hip hop concept albums comes the full length (all 10 minutes of it) video featuring some of the greatest emcees in the business, backed by the sheer creative genius and production finesse of Prince Paul. Hands down one of my favorite producers in the genre. A Prince Among Thieves is the story of a young emcee trying to get his finances in order to get his demo recorded. Along the way he gets caught in the mix and encounters the cast of characters as Tariq's situation gets drastic as a result of "his boy" True. This album was way ahead of its time and wasn't underrated as much as it was overlooked.

The album itself was a pretty rare find on vinyl at the time, but the VHS of this was damn near impossible, period. Now? Forget it. Thankfully, someone had the vision to YouTube it. It comes out of sync around Weapon World but it's still worth the viewing. My only gripe is that they left out the Biz's beatboxing and Chubb Rock's verse from the video. Mario Cuzo said I'm The Don, W-W-I'm-The-Shit-Dot-Com.
