Once again while trawling the internetz for interesting material, I stumble upon textual gold. While simultaneously adding another quality read to my blogroll with Bedford Rockers, I came across a very interesting, complete, and fantastic article on Rick Rubin. Rubin, like Prince Paul, is undoubtedly one of my favorite producers. Not only is he a visionary behind the boards, but he was also behind many of the emcees and groups I grew up on. Without going into a huge multi-paragraph detour, check the Wikipedia entry. He helped build Def Jam (including Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, and Slayer amongst others), worked extensively with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, and is now at the helm of Columbia Records. Needless to say, a dedicated individual who played a part in some of the best moments in music history. But I'll let the article tell the story. Read on.
