Fishbone is an American alternative rock band that plays a fusion of ska, punk rock, funk metal and more. The band was formed in 1979 in Los Angeles by John Norwood Fisher (bass, vocals), with his brother Phillip "Fish" Fisher (drums); Angelo Moore, who sometimes uses the stage name "Dr. Madd Vibe" (vocals, saxophones ranging from sopranino to bass, and theremin); Kendall Jones (guitar); "Dirty" Walter A. Kibby III (vocals, trumpet); and Christopher Dowd (keyboards, trombone, vocals).
This is a funny band the likes of the Infections Grooves. Obviously uses comedy as part of it's sound and feel. I discovered them with the album 'Give a Monkey a Brain and He'll Swear He's the Center of the Universe' (based solely on the name) which is their most 'metal' album. Their debut EP, Fishbone, is another good one, and is their most straight-forward 'ska' album. The other works tread the lines amongst several other genres; with the very angry and semi-hardcore 'Chim Chim's Badass Revenge' and the very happy and 'poppy' following album 'Fishbone and the Familyhood Nextperience Present: The Psychotic Friends Nuttwerx' being on the Disney label. The best albums are from their debut to 'Give A Money A Brain...' or maybe "Chim Chim's...' if you like that style.
