Snot Discography

Snot, is an American rock band from Santa Barbara, California. Formed in 1995, the band released their debut studio album Get Some with founding vocalist Lynn Strait in 1997 and disbanded after his death in 1998. In 2008, the lineup of guitarists Mike Doling and Sonny Mayo, bassist John Fahnestock and drummer Jamie Miller reunited. In 2009 Brandon Espinoza joined as vocalist, and the band changed its name to Tons.

I know the tag I put says hardcore, but they aren't really heavy on that aspect - there just isn't a better way of describing this band. The vocals move from spoken/clean to a yelling/screaming combo. This sound isn't my normal bag of tea, but for some reason I really like this group. Their songs are catchy and pretty funny (see "My Balls" off of Get Some).

Snot only released one 'true' album before the death of their singer, Lynn Strait, in 1998, and it is by far their best work. Their second release, a tribute album called Strait Up, was a compilation of the band with numerous different singers, singing the lyrics that Strait had written before his death. Some of the contributing singers are Serj Tankian, Jonathan Davis, Max Cavalera, and even Ozzy Osbourne has a spoken tribute to the man. Their last release as Snot, was their live album, Alive!, released four years after Strait's death. It is a pretty decent effort, and I really don't like live albums as a whole, and it has one track that never made it into the studio.

Now that the band has changed names to Tons, and has started touring and recording new material, I am interested to see where they go. And if the new singer can fill the massive shoes left by Lynn Strait.

Get Some - 1997

Strait Up - 2000

Alive! - 2002
