Bongos and Congas for days... That's what you got with Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band. Undoubtedly one of the funkiest ensembles to come together for the short period they were together ('72-'74). Interestingly enough, Viner was a record exec at MGM. He just happened to be a recording manager and played the bongos. Oh, what's this? Vanilla Coke (more like the Incredible Bongo Band, but bear with my Pulp reference).

First album, Bongo Rock yielded some of the most sampled and resampled drum breaks in hip hop and drum and bass history. Namely, the Apache. Even house has flipped some Apache action, ask Switch about a little bit called A Bit Patchy. Paradox has flipped Bongolia for the Bassbin label. We could also get down with the Beasties' Looking Down The Barrel of a Gun for that Last Bongo In Belgium. It's gonna getchaaaaaaaaaa... !

Beginning to end, this is some serious drum funk badness. If you haven't heard it, get to it. Learn yourself something proper about the music you listen to. Good shit never dies, and I didn't even get to In A Gadda Da Vida, Dueling Bongos, Raunchy, or When The Bed Breaks. I could go on, seriously, but y'all got Wikipedia for that shit.
