Elf Discography

Posted by admin on Friday, July 16, 2010

With the recent passing of the great Ronnie James Dio, I am once again reminded of his first (rock) band - Elf. Although Dio is known for his heavy metal lyrics and vocals, I really think his vocal style truly shines with Elf. Below is the Wikipedia intro to Elf, but if you want a more comprehensive view of the band, check out my break-down at my other blog HERE.

Elf was a blues-rock band founded in 1967 by the late singer and bassist Ronnie James Dio, keyboardist Doug Thaler, drummer Gary Driscoll, and guitarists Nick Pantas and David Feinstein (Dio's cousin). The band was originally called The Electric Elves, but was shortened to The Elves and finally Elf in mid-1970. Elf disbanded in 1975, after recording three albums.

Attention people!! This is not heavy metal by any means (other then Dio is a part of it), this is rock n' roll and blues in its finest! As my best friend called it (going with the song of the same name) this is 'Good Time Music'.

Elf - 1972

Carolina County Ball - 1974

Trying to Burn the Sun - 1975

Enjoy these, they took me a couple of weeks to compile. Elf is a hard band to find.
