I was talking to a common and great friend about a month back, and we were discussing how important it is, and how Jaryd would really want us all to get over and keep stepping. However, like I'm sure many of you can relate with, getting over the loss a life-long friend is never a simple and straight-forward endeavor.
For a while you're okay with it, then mentally you find yourself in a weird spot, and all that strength tends to falter now and again. I'm accepting of that weakness in a way because it ensures that I'll never forget the shining individual that was taken away from all of us.
In the modern world where you really have to questions all your relationships, and who really is and isn't your friend; there was never a doubt here. I always wonder if things would've panned out differently, where we'd be as friends, professional individuals, music lovers, and business partners. We can have a lot of acquaintances, contacts, alliances (strategic or otherwise); but there are very few that you can actually call true friends.
Interesting thing about that is; you don't really pick your friends, life brings them out to you over time. If there is one thing that I can tell you all, is to identify who those quality individuals are in your life, and keep nurture those relationships in the present because tomorrow isn't promised.
While some of our musical tastes were similar, some were vastly different and we were always able to expand each others musical palettes. One of those he put me onto heavily was Ian Pooley.
